Remy Martin didn't have a number when Most Outstanding Player for the NCAA Tournament odds were released at BetMGM at the beginning of the year. David McCormack was 125-1. Now they're on the cusp as two of the biggest liabilities for the sportsbook when Kansas meets North Carolina on Monday night.
The Jayhawks teammates are two of the three biggest losses for BetMGM, with Duke's Paolo Banchero as the third. Martin, who is second in overall bets to win the award, is now +1400. McCormack is +1200.
Martin, a transfer from Arizona State, was a spark for the Jayhawks in the first three rounds of the tournament, scoring 15, 20 and 23 points. However, he's been held to just nine points against Miami in the Elite Eight and three points in the Final Four against Villanova.
McCormack is on the opposite trend. After a slow opening three games held in single-digit points, the big man has scored 25 points and 15 in his last two games.
Armando Bacot (+600) and Caleb Love (+400) have the most interest on the North Carolina side. Bacot is fourth and Love is fifth in total bets.
The favorite is Ochai Agbaji (+110), who has scored double-digits in four of his five games in the tournament. His 21 points were huge in giving Kansas a lead over Villanova in the Final Four.
Banchero was the most popular pick on the year with 15% of both tickets and handle. However, with Duke's loss to North Carolina he is now off the board and not a factor to win college basketball's most prestigious postseason award.
