UConn was the favorite to win its region over UCLA entering the week, edging them out with a +170 clip at FanDuel relative to the Bruins' +185 mark.

Before the start of the tournament, our senior editor Ryan Collinsworth identified six teams that were most likely to win March Madness.

Using the following criteria, he correctly identified the winner for the past three tournaments.

  • Adjusted Offensive Efficiency (AdjO) of 113.9 or higher.
  • Adjusted Defensive Efficiency (AdjD) of 96.2 or lower.
  • Adjusted Efficiency Margin (AdjEM) of 23.83 or higher.

This year, six teams fit these parameters: Alabama, Houston, Texas, Purdue, UCLA.

The sixth team? UConn.
