My Alabama vs. Missouri College Basketball Betting Preview

Alabama Basketball

In the first ever No. 1 vs. No. 2 matchup in SEC history, Alabama came out on the losing end 94-85 to arch-rival Auburn.

However, amidst one of the most difficult stretches in SEC history to close the season, the Crimson Tide must bounce back quickly.

That'll start with a trip to Columbia to take on the Missouri Tigers on Wednesday.

The Crimson Tide will be looking for a bounce-back game from guard Mark Sears. The senior got to his season average with 18 points against Auburn, but he shot just 4-for-17 from the field.

Sears leads Alabama with 17.8 points and 4.8 assists per game, which ranks second and third, respectively, in the SEC.

Sears is one of five double-digit scorers for the Crimson Tide. Guard Aden Holloway is the best shooter of the group at 41.6% from 3.

However, Alabama is shooting just 34% from 3 as a team.

That came back to bite the Tide on Saturday, as they shot just 5-for-26 from downtown against Auburn.

However, on Wednesday, Alabama will have an advantage on the interior offensively. This season, Alabama is second in Division I in 2-point percentage (60.3%) and ranks first in the SEC in league play (57.6%). It's also 19th in Division I in offensive rebounding percentage and second in SEC play.

Conversely, Missouri is 253rd in defensive rebounding percentage and is allowing opponents to convert 50% of their 2s in SEC play.

Grant Nelson ranks fourth in the SEC at 8.3 rebounds per game and is coming off a double-double against Auburn. He had 13 points and eight rebounds against Missouri last season.

Missouri Basketball

Alabama isn't the only high-powered offense in this game, as Missouri is averaging 82.6 points, as well. The Tigers are 11th in adjusted offensive efficiency and fifth in the SEC in conference play.

Transfers Tamar Bates, Mark Mitchell and Caleb Grill are each averaging around 13 points per game.

Grill, Anthony Robinson II and Marques Warrick are each shooting 40% or better from 3. The Tigers have been the second-best 3-point shooting team (37.6%) in conference play and rank 40th nationally.

However, they also convert inside, as they hit 56% of their 2s.

Defensively, the Tigers may struggle to clean the glass. However, they generate possessions by forcing turnovers. They're 28th in turnover percentage this season and second in SEC play.

Alabama is 181st in turnover percentage offensively and 354th defensively, which means Missouri may have the edge in the turnover battle on Wednesday.

Alabama vs. Missouri Betting Analysis

Since Nate Oats has arrived in Tuscaloosa, you can typically expect a ton of points when Alabama is involved. It's scored 80 points in 22 of its 25 games this season. It just scored 85 in a game where it only got 15 points from 3s last Saturday.

Though a different group, the Tide also scored 93 points against Missouri last season.

This season, Missouri has the offense to keep up and enters this matchup having scored 80 points in five of its last six games.

The over has hit in four of those games.

Six of Alabama's last 10 games have gone over and all six games have featured 172 points or more.

Head-to-head, three of the last five meetings have gone over, and I expect that trend to continue on Wednesday.
