My Alabama vs Texas College Basketball Betting Preview
I don't love betting against Alabama because its offense and pace creates a lot of variance and high-possession games that can easily turn into blowouts.
But in the case of this matchup, this isn't a great spot for the Tide.
Texas comes into this matchup off of two straight losses and is currently a 10-seed in ESPN's Bracketology.
This is a massive week for the Horns as they host both Alabama and Kentucky, giving themselves two opportunities to boost their resume and continue to secure their NCAA Tournament positioning.
Meanwhile, Alabama has a No. 1 vs. No. 2 rivalry duel this Saturday against Auburn in Tuscaloosa. Ahead of one of the games of the year, the Tide may not be as locked in as they typically are.
It also helps that Tre Johnson has been absolutely ridiculous over the last five games, scoring an average of 22 points. In order to keep up with Alabama's offense, the Longhorns need a player who can create and score at will, which Johnson has proven over the last five affairs.
We're also getting some value with this spread, as Bart Torvik and Haslametrics have this line closer to 3.
Finally, Texas lost to Auburn and Tennessee by a combined nine points in its home gym and it beat Texas A&M and Missouri. Expect a close game, even if the Horns don't pull out the outright upset.
