More About Arizona
Charlie Disturco: One of the biggest surprises of this college basketball season has to be the dominance of Arizona in Year 1 of the Tommy Lloyd era.
The Wildcats' high-powered offense ranked first in adjusted efficiency and first in assist rate heading into the Pac-12 Tournament. They push tempo at all times as well as create a ton of second-chance opportunities, using their second-ranked height to dominate inside the paint. They can shoot the 3-ball well, too. Bennedict Mathurin is also the prototypical star player who will thrive in March, and the rest of the roster is deep and extremely talented.
Most teams have to adjust to their pace and win in a shootout — and there are very few that can match that physicality and speed.
Arizona is the class of the Pac-12. There’s not much you can critique about the Wildcats.
More About TCU
Stuckey: TCU is a dangerous team, especially once the Horned Frogs get out of the Big 12, which is dominated by the nation’s best defenses that completely take away the middle of the paint – not ideal for a TCU team that does not shoot many 3s nor thrive when they do: The Frogs rank outside the top 300 in both 3-point rate and 3-point percentage.
What TCU can do is dominate the offensive glass. The Frogs rank second in the nation in that category.
They are deep and extremely physical. Oh, they also have an excellent point guard running the show in Mike Miles.
