Weather report for a college basketball game? Yes, we have a weather report for a college basketball game.
You may be asking yourself, why does an indoor sport need a weather report? College athletics always seems to amaze, and today we have a basketball game that will be played on an aircraft carrier.
Michigan State and Gonzaga are playing on the USS Abraham Lincoln in San Diego. The game will be outdoors and has no retractable roof or covering of any sort overhead.
This isn't the first time that a college basketball game has been played on an aircraft carrier. In 2011, North Carolina beat Michigan State in San Diego. However, in 2012 two of four scheduled games were canceled due to condensation issues on the court.
The two canceled games came in Charleston and Jacksonville, while a second completed game was played in San Diego.
Here's what's in store for the weather this evening on the USS Abraham Lincoln.
Michigan State vs. Gonzaga Weather Report
Per Accuweather, the Spartans and Bulldogs will tip off at around 61 degrees, while the wind will be moving at about 7 mph throughout the game.
Additionally, the humidity is estimated to be at 54% throughout the contest, rising to 60% in the later stages of the game.
Will we see a similar outcome to what has happened in the past? On the bright side, none of the previous cancellations came in San Diego. On the other hand, half of all scheduled aircraft carrier games in college history have not been completed.
Michigan State and Gonzaga are scheduled to tip at 6:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.
