Auburn vs Georgia College Basketball Betting Preview

Auburn Basketball

The Auburn Tigers passed their first test without star big man Johni Broome, taking down the Mississippi State Bulldogs 88-66 earlier this week.

However, they're now tasked with another set of Bulldogs that are on the hunt for an upset.

We learned a lot about Auburn in its most recent victory, as questions surrounded how the Tigers would operate offensively without Broome.

Well, it was a collaborative effort, as Chad Baker-Mazara led the way with mid-range scoring, while Miles Kelly and Chaney Johnson worked on the glass.

While an effort like the one we saw against Mississippi State would be beneficial against Georgia, it may not be as effective, since don't have the size to contend with Asa Newell on the glass. Newell has also shown to be a solid rim protector, so it'll be on the likes of Denver Jones, Kelly and others to stretch the floor.

With that will likely come a lot of shooting variance, as the Bulldogs are seventh in 3-point percentage allowed and are holding mid-range shooters to just 37.7%.

Georgia Basketball

As for the Bulldogs, this is their spot to thrive, with the Tigers missing their big man.

I touched on the size of Newell causing problems on the defensive end, but the 6-foot-11 freshman has been efficient offensively, too, converting over 64% of his shots from inside the arc.

However, hitting shots inside is much easier said than done against Auburn.

The Tigers are eighth in 2-point percentage allowed, and the Bulldogs have gotten in their own way quite a bit this season, ranking 304th in offensive turnover rate.

While Georgia will have the size advantage on the inside, it may not be able to fully exploit it, as the pace of this game will be slower than average, and Auburn has been excellent defending in half-court sets.

We should see Auburn rotate help inside, which gives Georgia the opportunity to convert from beyond the arc. But that's not the Bulldogs' strength, as they rank 211th in 3-point percentage.

Auburn vs. Georgia Betting Analysis

As I said above, Auburn did a good job of not skipping a beat against Mississippi State without Broome, but the size and interior tendencies of Georgia will provide a true test.

In the end, the Tigers have the ability to contain Georgia offensively, but their own offensive output is a question mark.

The Bulldogs' size will lockdown the paint on the defensive end, which will lead Auburn to shoot from distance.

However, Georgia has shown it can defend the perimeter well.

This game profiles to be an offensive struggle at a slower pace, which leads me to take the under here.
