My Auburn vs Vanderbilt College Basketball Betting Preview

No. 1 Auburn (21-2, 9-1) had its 14-game winning streak snapped on Saturday at home against then-No. 6 Florida. The Tigers haven't lost back-to-back games all season, and that trend will continue against host Vanderbilt (17-6, 5-5).

The loss to the Gators was much needed to avoid any complacency creeping in for the final eight games of the regular season. It was the only time this season Auburn allowed at least 90 points.

Rest assured, the Tigers will bring more defensive intensity to Nashville.

Vanderbilt isn't going to make as many 3-pointers as Florida did vs. Auburn (13-for-33). The Commodores don't shoot at that volume or with that efficiency in conference play. The best 3-point performance for Vanderbilt was 11-for-26 vs. Alabama.

Also, Florida's bigs were a major force in the upset. However, Vanderbilt is smaller in the frontcourt, with 6-foot-7 Devin McGlockton and 6-foot-8 Jaylen Carey. Vanderbilt's bigs are competent but lack the size to impact Auburn's 6-foot-10 imposing Johni Broome, a potential first-round NBA draft pick.

Look for Broome to draw a ton of fouls and get Auburn into the bonus early in both halves.

Meanwhile, Auburn has the top offense in the country, per Bart Torvik. Broome is the anchor, but the Tigers spread the wealth, with four other double-digit scorers, including guards Miles Kelly and Tahaad Pettiford.

This offensive versatility is too much for Vanderbilt to overcome.

Also, Auburn protects the ball, so there will be limited fast break chances for Vanderbilt.

The Commodores are no slouch, but unfortunately, they're catching the Tigers at the worst possible time. Auburn is hungry to put the Florida loss behind it, and it'll respond accordingly.
