There are bad beats and then there is whatever happened in the UL-Monroe vs. Jacksonville college basketball game early on Monday.

This wasn't a game that would normally garner much attention, but it tipped off at noon ET on a Monday, which means more degenerates than usual were likely to bet it.

Jacksonville closed as 6-point favorites and the total closed at 137.5. If you got the closing under, this wasn't a bad beat. However, most people who were betting the under didn't get it at  137.5 as it opened at 139 and got as high as 141.

The final score was 75-65 as the game totaled 140 points.

What happened at the end of the game to get from 138 to 140 points was an absolute catastrophe.

Jacksonville guard Marcus Niblack appeared to be dribbling out the clock as Jacksonville was leading 73-65. All of a sudden, as the clock wound down, Niblack started to move to the basket. With about three seconds left on the clock, Niblack picked up the basketball, took about four steps to the hoop and laid it in before the buzzer.

A travel wasn't called. The basket counted and many people — especially those who took the under — were in shock. Also, those who had over 138 and 139 rejoiced as they watched their bet hit.
