Caitlin Clark is on the verge of becoming college basketball's most prolific scorer. She’s only 18 points from passing Pete Maravich for the most career NCAA Division 1 points in men and women’s history.
Before doing so, though, Clark had an important announcement to make.
"While this season is far from over and we have a lot more goals to achieve, it will be my last one at Iowa," she said in a social media post. "I am excited to be entering the 2024 WNBA Draft.”
The biggest winner in all of this is the Indiana Fever, who won “the Caitlin Clark sweepstakes” and own the first overall pick. She’s set to join reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year Aliyah Boston. Suddenly, a Fever team that has the longest active playoff drought in the league has a bright future.
Nonetheless, Clark turning pro didn’t move the needle for the 2024 WNBA campaign. The Fever remain +2500 to win the WNBA title as the expected announcement was already baked into their odds, according to reporting from Vegas Insider's Patrick Everson.

"The lottery was billed as the Caitlin Clark Sweepstakes, so that's how we treated it. We anticipated this ever since Indiana won lottery." – @Chasemarino13

Clark leads college basketball in points (31.2) and assists (8.7) per game, and is the overwhelming favorite to win National Player of the Year for the second year in a row.
