My Cal vs Duke College Basketball Betting Preview

No. 3 Duke (20-3, 12-1) is coming off its first ACC loss of the season, a 77-71 defeat at Clemson. The Blue Devils will emphatically bounce back against mediocre Cal (12-12, 5-8), which travels across the country to Durham.

Cal is ranked No. 126 in KenPom and is 6-10 vs. .500 or better opponents after losing 76-66 to Wake Forest.

Duke will be revitalized after the disappointing loss vs. Clemson, especially back home in the friendly confines of Cameron Indoor Stadium, where Duke is 13-0 this season.

Duke struggled defensively and on the boards against Clemson. Cal is elite at offensive rebounding percentage (27th nationally, 35.8%), so Duke will have to remain disciplined and box out.

Duke freshman center Khaman Maluach has been limited with foul trouble lately. Maluach has committed at least four fouls in three of the last six games. That's something to keep an eye out for as Cal is No. 17 in the nation for free throws made (17.4).

Cal freshman Jeremiah Wilkinson has upped his impact, with 19.8 points in the last six games. Duke has to be aware of Wilkinson at the 3-point line, as he's shot at least eight attempts in the last seven games.

Sophomore guard Andrej Stojakovic (17.9 points) is Cal's top scorer, but he's been in a drought as of late after coming back from a hip injury. Stojakovic has scored under 11 points in his last four games. With Stojakovic still working his way back, Duke will have less to contend with on defense.

On offense, the Blue Devils will exploit Cal's subpar defense. Duke's lineup is significantly taller and larger, with everyone standing at 6-foot-6 and above. Duke will prioritize getting in the paint to set up its forwards and centers for easy buckets.

Also, Cal won't be able to contain do-it-all freshman Cooper Flagg. The 6-foot-9 phenom leads the Blue Devils in points (19.5), rebounds (7.7), assists (4.0) and blocks (1.3).

Plus, Duke junior guard Tyrese Proctor has been hot from beyond the arc, draining four 3-pointers apiece in the last two games.

Duke will be more focused and in tune to avoid a losing streak as it'll throttle visiting Cal.
