Clemson Basketball

The Tigers were an elite team last season, beginning the year with a 3-0 record and eventually reaching the Elite Eight.

With PJ Hall departing, guard Chase Hunter has had to step up and be the alpha, and thus far, he has delivered.

The Tigers have yet to be challenged, though, so Sunday is a great opportunity to prove whether they are the real deal.

They have been red-hot from 3-point land to begin the season, shooting 41% from deep. They are also in the top 30 in the country in terms of effective field goal percentage.

However, they have severely struggled at the free-throw line, shooting 63% as a team.

They have done an excellent job on defense, creating turnovers and defending the paint. It has also been impressive that they have played smoothly on the defensive end, preventing their opponents from going to the free-throw line often.

The Broncos are supposed to be one of the top teams in the Mountain West, so it's definitely going to be a tough challenge on the road for Clemson. What concerns me about the Tigers is that not only has their free-throw shooting been poor so far, but regression could loom from beyond the arc.

They don’t have an edge in terms of depth, as the Broncos have a slightly deeper roster. The difference in the game could come down to the Tigers' continued success on the offensive glass and their ability to make more of their free throws.

Because it's early in the season, I have a hard time gauging whether or not the Tigers are up for the challenge on Sunday.

The Broncos have one loss on the season, but they have the chops to get a home victory here. I love the Broncos' size, and they have been an excellent defensive team thus far.

They have been incredibly disciplined on the defensive side, rarely allowing their opponents to go to the free-throw line. The Broncos are in the top 60 in both offensive and defensive adjusted efficiency, and they are sixth in the country in turnovers per game.

It’s also a solid matchup for forward Tyson Degenhart, who enters the game as the Broncos' leading scorer.

Five Broncos players are averaging double digits in points, so it’s encouraging that they are not heavily reliant on one scorer.

They have also been excellent at the free-throw line, shooting 80% thus far.

The Broncos have struggled from 3-point land, but the Tigers have struggled to defend that area this season.

It should be a terrific home crowd, and I give the Broncos the edge solely because of that. Their ability to knock down free throws and limit turnovers could be the difference-maker here.

Clemson vs Boise State Betting Analysis

I was skeptical about the Broncos entering the season, but I like them at home here.

The Tigers might be undefeated, but the home crowd in Boise will make the difference.

I also trust the Broncos to make their free throws late, as it should be a close contest.

I’ll take the home team and lay the bucket in what should be a terrific Sunday afternoon game.
