The North Carolina State Wolfpack travel to South Bend, Ind., on Wednesday night for an ACC battle with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, who look to capitalize off their first league win.

Notre Dame stunned Virginia as a heavy home underdog on Saturday as the Fighting Irish are in the midst of three straight ACC games at the Joyce Center.

N.C. State wrapped up non-conference play with a pair of home wins over Saint Louis and Detroit, as the Wolfpack seek their second ACC victory.

NC State Wolfpack

N.C. State won 23 games last season before getting bounced in the first round of the NCAA Tournament by Creighton. The Wolfpack dug themselves into a 1-3 hole in ACC play before finishing 12-8 in the league.

Kevin Keatts’ club has started 9-3 while winning its lone ACC game in December over Boston College in overtime. The losses have been to solid competition, falling to a pair of Top-10 teams in BYU and Tennessee on neutral courts, while getting blown out at undefeated Ole Miss.

The Wolfpack have covered the spread in four of the last six games with the two ATS losses coming as favorites of 19 or more points against Tennessee-Martin and Detroit.

Guard D.J. Horne leads N.C. State by averaging 15 points per game after playing the last three seasons at Arizona State. Horne is putting up his best career numbers from 3-point range by shooting 44.3% from long distance, while the Wolfpack are shooting 35% as a team from 3.

One thing N.C. State has done really well this season has been taking care of the basketball. The Wolfpack have not lost a game when turning the ball over more than 10 times, while owning the eighth-best turnover percentage in the country at 13.2%.

Last season, the Wolfpack defeated the Fighting Irish 85-82 in Raleigh, N.C., as 8.5-point favorites. N.C. State converted on 23-of-27 free throws and turned the ball over only twice, but Notre Dame managed its third straight cover in the series since 2022.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish

The expectations weren’t high in South Bend as Micah Shrewsberry took over for longtime coach Mike Brey. Shrewsberry led Penn State to the NCAA Tournament in his second season as head coach before losing to Texas A&M in the second round last March.

Notre Dame finished 3-17 in ACC play last season, but already picked up a signature conference win before the calendar turned to January.

The Irish stunned Virginia as 9.5-point home underdogs on Saturday, 76-54, marking the third time this season that Notre Dame held its opponent to fewer than 56 points.

Notre Dame has several losses to quality opponents already, falling to Auburn, Marquette and Miami, but also owns questionable home defeats to Western Carolina and The Citadel, each by double-digits.

Heading into last Saturday’s game against Virginia, the Fighting Irish were one of the worst 3-point shooting teams in the country.

They are still shooting 28.2%, which ranks 329th in the nation, but the Irish hit 11-of-23 shots from downtown against the Cavaliers, marking the second time they knocked down at least 10 treys in a game.

Freshman Markus Burton has paced Notre Dame in scoring this season with 15.9 points per game, including scoring 15 points and eight assists in the win over Virginia.

The Irish have covered the spread in four of six opportunities as an underdog this season, although all four ATS wins came when receiving 7.5 points or more.

NC State vs. Notre Dame

Betting Pick & Prediction

It's hard to think Notre Dame can replicate last Saturday's effort against one of the best defensive teams in the country.

This is actually the lowest favorite spot that N.C. State has been priced at this season, while Notre Dame did plenty of damage as a heavier underdog.

Classic letdown spot for the Irish here, who will be hefty home 'dogs to Duke on Saturday.

Let's back the road team and take N.C. State to grab their second ACC victory.

Pick: N.C. State -4.5 (Play to -5.5)
