It's time to take a look at the South Carolina Gamecocks vs Ole Miss Rebels odds and make a prediction in our college basketball betting preview for Saturday, Feb. 24.
A rematch of an exciting battle from Feb. 6 is on our hands Saturday afternoon when South Carolina heads to Oxford to take on Ole Miss.
The Gamecocks won that game 68-65, so they will be looking to complete a regular-season sweep of the Rebels. Meanwhile, Chris Beard's team sits firmly on the bubble, so a victory over a top-20 opponent would go a long way in getting Ole Miss back to the Big Dance.
Let's discuss where the betting value lies in our South Carolina vs. Ole Miss betting preview and pick.
After rattling off seven victories in a row, the Gamecocks head to Oxford having lost their last two games.
Lamont Paris' team has had a whole week off after a surprising home loss to LSU last Saturday. South Carolina has exceeded expectations this season, but this team still appears hungry for more.
The Gamecocks do a really good job of slowing the game down and making opponents grind in every possession they have in the half-court.
In the first meeting between these teams, Collin Murray-Boyles had a big night, going for 16 points and nine rebounds on 8-of-11 shooting. The freshman has been extremely efficient all season and is a big part of everything South Carolina does offensively.
Just like Paris, Beard has really surprised in year one. Beard has a track record of doing exactly that, but nobody expected an Ole Miss team that was in the basement of the SEC a year ago to be firmly in the mix for an NCAA Tournament berth.
Allen Flanigan and Matthew Murrell are fantastic wings that do a little bit of everything for the Rebels on both ends.
Ole Miss is also huge on its front line, with Moussa Cisse and Jamarion Sharp both standing over 7 feet tall. They don't play together much, but both can really alter shots at the rim with their length.
The Rebels lost the rebounding battle to the Gamecocks in the first meeting, an area that will be key this time around.
Look for the Pavilion crowd to be rocking for this one, as Beard has done a great job of injecting a buzz back into this program in his first season.
South Carolina vs Ole Miss
Betting Pick & Prediction
South Carolina went on a heck of a seven-game run in the heart of January and into February, but I think the Gamecocks may still be a bit overvalued in the market as a result of that winning streak. Meanwhile, Ole Miss desperately needs this game for its NCAA Tournament hopes and matches up pretty well with South Carolina on paper.
This line feels a bit too short to me, as Ole Miss has shot the ball well at home all season and also has some size advantages in the paint.
Give me the Rebels to get the home win in a revenge spot, and cover the number in the process.
