Pac-12 play rolls on as Stanford takes on Oregon State in a matchup between two teams that lost their last time out.

Oregon State holds the better record of the two, sitting at 9-6 compared to Stanford's 7-7 mark. However, Stanford is the better team, according to the metrics, as it ranks 80th on KenPom compared to Oregon State's ranking of 158th.

Stanford has been one of the more confusing teams to follow this season, as it has an extremely high ceiling and an extremely low floor. The Cardinal looked like one of the very best teams in the country in their 100-82 win over Arizona, and followed that up with a decisive road win over UCLA.

But at their worst, the Cardinal have been horrendous. They went 0-3 in the Battle 4 Atlantis and lost by 12 points at home to Santa Clara at the beginning of the season.

Oregon State has typically been much more predictable. The Beavers are just 1-5 vs. top-90 opponents, with the win coming at home over USC. They got blown out in all of their marquee non-conference games, losing by huge margins to Nebraska, Baylor and Pittsburgh on neutral floors.

They've been playing better ball as of late, but last week, they suffered back-to-back losses at Washington and Washington State.

Stanford Cardinal

Stanford's biggest strength — by far — is making shots from outside, as the Cardinal shoot 38.5% from 3-point range.

They have premier veteran shotmakers in Michael Jones and Jared Bynum and a talented freshman Andrej Stojakovic (yes, Peja Stojakovic's son), who's shooting 36% from outside this year.

Against Arizona, Stanford simply blew the Wildcats off the court with 3-point shots. The Cardinal shot 16-of-25 from 3 in that game.

They'll need to do that against Oregon State to win decisively.

Oregon State Beavers

Oregon State plays slow and limits possessions. The Beavers rank 30th in tempo in all of college basketball, and as they're often underdogs, that can usually bode well for their chances to cover.

Jordan Pope is the star of this team, and he gives them a dynamic option in the backcourt who could play anywhere in the country. Pope has scored in double figures in all 15 games this season, and he's coming off a season-high 29 points on 10-of-17 shooting in the loss to Washington.

The Beavers have now won six of their last nine games, and all three of their losses in that span have been decided by seven points. They're 9-1 at home, and they would love to pull the upset here.
