Big 12 play rolls on as Texas hits the road to Morgantown, West Virginia, to take on the Mountaineers.

It's been a treacherous year for West Virginia, starting in the offseason when Bob Huggins was replaced by Josh Eilert. A large NIL budget hasn't led to many victories, as West Virginia is just 5-10 through 15 games.

Meanwhile, Texas enters this game with a 12-3 record, but it still has much to prove under second-year coach Rodney Terry.

Texas has handled every lesser opponent on its schedule thus far. The problem is it hasn't been able to secure a victory against a great team yet.

The Longhorns are 0-3 vs. top-25 opponents, with losses against Connecticut, Marquette and Texas Tech. Their best win came in their last game on the road at Cincinnati, as Max Abmas' game-winning shot secured the victory.

It's been nothing but disaster for West Virginia. The Mountaineers are 0-8 in all eight of their games against top-100 opponents. Their best victory was a six-point win at home over Drexel in early December. This is a program that's very much in transition, and it's hard to expect much this season.

Where does the value lie here? Let's take a look at the Texas vs. West Virginia odds and make a prediction for Saturday's Big 12 college basketball showdown.

Texas Longhorns

Texas picked up its first high-quality win last game at Cincinnati.

Dylan Disu was the superstar, scoring 33 points on 23 shots and chipping in six rebounds, four steals and two blocks. Disu missed the start of the season due to injury, which may be part of the reason why Texas struggled.

Talent has never been an issue for Texas this season. With Abmas and Tyrese Hunter manning the backcourt, the Longhorns will almost always have the best guard duo. Combine that with Disu, and the Longhorns' offense is ranked 38th in the country.

Defense is where Texas is more vulnerable. The Longhorns rank below 50th in Defensive Efficiency, and they've given up 78 or more points in all three of their losses. Texas is 3-2 in away or neutral games this season, but this is its second road game in a row, and that's always a tough spot.

West Virginia Mountaineers

On the other side, West Virginia has struggled on both sides of the ball. The Mountaineers rank 173rd in Offensive Efficiency and 131st on defense.

There aren't many bright spots on this team's profile.

As a team, West Virginia shoots just 29% from 3-point range. Seth Wilson and Kerr Kriisa are tied for the lead in 3-point percentage on this team at 37%.

If there's one thing West Virginia does well, it's avoiding fouls. The Mountaineers rank eighth nationally in opponent free throw rate.

But against a team as talented as Texas, there aren't many answers for West Virginia other than to hope its shooters heat up from deep.
