Miami and Clemson may not be the biggest brand names in the ACC, but they are two of the best teams in the conference this season.
Both are inside the top four of the standings, with the 10-2 Tigers leading the way.
It should be a competitive matchup from start to finish on Saturday afternoon as these teams clash for the only time in the regular season.
Clemson returns home after a disappointing road loss to Boston College on Tuesday night. The Tigers have been a fantastic road team all season, but the offense went ice cold down the stretch in Chestnut Hill.
Miami won a shootout against Virginia Tech in its most recent outing, and enters this game playing as well as anybody in the conference on the offensive end.
Let's discuss where the betting value lies in this pivotal ACC battle.
If you haven't seen the highlights of Nijel Pack's performance in the final minutes against Virginia Tech on Tuesday night, go take a look ASAP.
Pack was absolutely on fire down the stretch, willing the Hurricanes to an important victory to keep them near the top of the ACC.
Pack's backcourt mate Isaiah Wong can be just as explosive, making this duo the best backcourt in the league.
Jim Larranaga's team ranks 10th nationally in offensive efficiency and can go on runs in the blink of an eye with its shooting across the board.
The defensive end continues to be a work in progress, and is likely holding Miami back from being a real threat to go deep in March.
The Tigers play at a slower pace than some of the other conference foes the Hurricanes have recently faced, but Miami needs to be more disciplined in the half court if it wants to leave Clemson with a victory.
Brad Brownell has done a heck of a job this season for the Tigers. After a mediocre start to non-conference play that included losses to South Carolina and Loyola, Clemson has really found its form.
The Tigers have lost just twice since December 10th, and have beaten the likes of Virginia Tech, NC State and Duke along the way.
Clemson has certainly been fortunate in a lot of tight games, but you have to give credit where it's due for a team finding a way to win all those close ones.
Veterans Hunter Tyson and PJ Hall are leaders and anchors on this team.
Tyson has drastically improved his 3-point shot, and Hall is playing as well as any center in the conference.
Clemson also recently got Chase Hunter back from injury, and he wasted no time showing his importance with a game-winning basket at Florida State.
On Saturday afternoon, the Tigers will need all of those guys at their best if they want to keep pace with a lethal Hurricanes offense.
Miami vs Clemson Betting Pick
Sometimes, the handicap is somewhat simple.
I understand Clemson is playing at Littlejohn Coliseum, where they have not lost all season, but streaks are meant to be broken.
I believe the Hurricanes are the more complete basketball team from top to bottom, and with a tight spread, I'll take my chances with their guards to make enough plays.
Clemson has been fortunate in close games for much of the season, and the Boston College game may very well mark the beginning of some regression to the mean for the Tigers.
Give me Miami to cover this one as a short road dog in a game I think the Hurricanes likely win.
