My Drake vs Missouri NCAAB Betting Preview
March Madness is finally here! I have a play for you, so sit back, grab your favorite caffeine beverage of choice and enjoy this winner.
I'm breaking down the 11-seed Drake Bulldogs versus the 6-seed Missouri Tigers.
Drake won the Missouri Valley Conference, going 17-3 in league play and 30-3 overall. The Bulldogs beat Miami, FAU, Vanderbilt and Kansas State in the non-conference, too.
Missouri, on the other hand, finished eight in the toughest conference in all of college basketball, the SEC. The Tigers had an overall record of 22-11, as they started out the season at 10-1 with a signature win at home versus Kansas.
I really like Drake in this matchup. Yes, the Bulldogs are trendy 'dogs, but they can hang with any opponent because they control the pace of play (364th in adjusted tempo).
Drake plays very well away from its home court and most importantly, it defends at a high level. Missouri’s offense is a top-five in the country, but in March, defense wins out.
Head coach Ben McCollum is the top candidate to land a big time job this offseason. He'll have his team prepared for this tough matchup, as I know he'll have a plan to take away Caleb Grill and Tony Perkins.
Lastly, Drake has one of the most underrated players in the country, Bennett Stirtz.
Remember the name, as Stirtz averaged 19.1 points per game, scored a combined 48 points in the last two games of the Missouri Valley Tournament and won the MVC's Player of the Year award after playing in D-II last season.
McCollum and Stirtz will help keep this game close, and Drake could win outright as a result.
