Has Florida Atlantic started another run?

One year after a trip to the Final Four as a No. 9, FAU is back as a No. 9 seed and already got the first one out of the way with a win over Northwestern.

Now, the Owls will likely have the difficult task of facing the No. 1 overall seed in the tournament, UConn Huskies, in the second round.

Although the spread and total has not been released yet, we can go ahead and predict what the numbers will be based on models built by our analytics team led by the chief of predictive analysis Sean Koerner. Koerner has routinely moved lines in all sports including college basketball.

Our algorithm is currently predicting UConn will be a 12-point favorite in a matchup against Florida Atlantic. The total will be around 146.5. The no-hold moneyline is -428, meaning it will likely be close to -450 on UConn and +380 on FAU.

Koerner gives the Owls a 5.2% chance of advancing to the Elite Eight and a 1.7% chance of getting back to the Final Four. UConn, on the other hand, remains the favorite to win the title.
