Spread

After an 0-5 start, this could prove to be a get-right game for Arkansas, but I'm wary of taking a team in free fall as favorites when visiting Georgia is the better team.

Moneyline

The same case is true here. If you have a hunch that the Hogs can bounce back, run with it, but I'm not ready to back that with a wager.

Over/Under

The over is my favorite pick here, with both teams looking for some major shooting regression to boost their scoring.

My Pick: Over 141.5 or Better

Georgia Basketball

Not much was expected from this Georgia squad, with the media picking it 12th in the SEC before the season began.

In the non-conference slate, the Bulldogs quickly made a name for themselves. Georgia started 12-1 with wins over Notre Dame and St. John's. Even with that in mind, many expected Georgia to wilt when faced with the brutality of the SEC, by far the best conference in college hoops this season.

So far, the Bulldogs have essentially held serve in conference play. Georgia has lost roadies at Ole Miss and Tennessee, plus a home game with top-ranked Auburn. On the plus side, the Bulldogs have home wins over Oklahoma and highly-ranked Kentucky.

Mike White's roster is led by a trio of double-figure scorers, each coming to this season via a different pathway.

Silas Demary Jr. returned from last season's squad, boosting his scoring by a few extra points per game. Dakota Leffew was a 1,000+ point scorer at Mount St. Mary's who's looked the part playing with power conference competition.

Most notably, freshman Asa Newell has been excellent in the paint, leading Georgia in scoring and rebounding.

There's a long road to reach the Bulldogs' first ticket to the Big Dance since 2015, yet this team is on the right track.

The SEC schedule offers plenty of chances for quality wins, starting with this road date in Fayetteville.

One possible scary note for Georgia: If Arkansas' season continues to crumble, this might not look like a resume-building win by Selection Sunday. The Hogs have played five games in the SEC, dropping all five. A neutral site victory over Michigan remains the Razorbacks' only win over a top-70 KenPom opponent in eight tries.

John Calipari's roster, a mix of big-time recruits, players who hopped along with him from Kentucky and a few notable transfers from elsewhere in college hoops, hasn't gelled, especially on the offensive end.

Johnell Davis, a star at Florida Atlantic, has been ineffective for Arkansas, with his point-per-game average sliced in half from last season.

The same is true of Jonas Aidoo. He notched eight double-doubles for a Tennessee team that went to the Elite Eight last season. He has just two double-doubles this year, scoring only 6.4 points per night.

In total, Arkansas is getting clobbered in SEC play. In the conference, the Hogs are last in field goal percentage and free throws per game, leading to just 64 points per game. Arkansas is getting hammered on the glass on both ends of the floor, leaving a major discrepancy in possessions.

The SEC schedule has plenty of heavy hitters still to come. This could be the Hogs' best chance at a win for a little while.

Georgia vs. Arkansas Betting Analysis

Quite simply, I'm not brave enough to decide if Arkansas is due for a bounce back or if the Razorbacks are road kill, ready to be left for dead.

Arkansas is certainly many steps away from what the public expected when Calipari came to town, with recruits and NIL money at his disposal. The next several weeks will decide exactly how dark this season could get in Fayetteville.

And now star freshman Boogie Fland is out for the season with a hand injury.

A ray of hope comes via the possibility of positive shooting regression. Arkansas has made just 25.2% of its 3-point attempts in conference play. This may be just a bad shooting team, but the early-season results disagree. Arkansas made 37% of its attempts before SEC play, including strong shooting nights in wins over Miami and Michigan.

The Hogs have been the second-worst 3-point shooting team in the SEC, topped only by — you guessed it — Georgia. The Bulldogs have hit just one-quarter of their looks from outside in conference play after making 36% in non-conference games.

Neither of these teams is going to light the world on fire with jump shots, yet both are clearly going to improve upon their recent shooting efforts.

If one or both do so Wednesday night, I like the chances this game hits the total.
