My Indiana vs Providence College Basketball Betting Preview

How is Indiana only favored by 4.5 in this game?

Yes, the Hoosiers have looked uninterested in playing the last two days, as they were mauled by both Louisville and Gonzaga. But they have a massive talent advantage against Providence, and the Friars are lost offensively without Bryce Hopkins.

Mike Woodson doesn't exactly inspire confidence as a head coach, the Hoosiers' frontcourt is an iffy fit and Kanaan Carlyle has been nowhere to be found since coming over from Stanford.

But the Friars have been bad all season. They nearly lost to Central Connecticut State at home, trailed by eight at the half against Hampton and shot 31% against Davidson while failing to break 60 points.

Most importantly, Indiana has a huge frontcourt advantage. While the Friars rank top-20 in rebounds per game, their leader in that category is 6-foot-6 Wesley Cardet Jr. They haven't faced a frontcourt with as much talent, size and depth as Indiana's.

Saint Joe's transfer Christ Essandoko doesn't have the experience and physicalness to match up successfully with Oumar Ballo, an Arizona transfer who is nearly averaging a double-double.

This is a complete mismatch on paper, even though both teams are 0-2 in this event and Indiana has had one foot out the door of the Atlantis resort.
