Kansas vs Utah NCAAB Preview

Kansas comes into this contest with a record of 17-7, which has the Jayhawks ranked 17th in the nation.

Bill Self's team began the season ranked first in the nation, so the campaign has been somewhat disappointing for the Jayhawks.

Kansas opened the season strong, with wins over North Carolina, Michigan State and Duke. But December wasn't kind to the Jayhawks, as they posted a record of 2-3 and lost to three unranked teams.

The Jayhawks are coming off a 71-59 win over Colorado earlier in the week.

Kansas is 8-5 in conference play this season and would need a win in this matchup to keep its hopes of winning the conference alive.

Senior Hunter Dickinson leads the squad with 16.6 points and 9.6 rebounds per game. South Dakota State transfer Zeke Mayo has averaged 15.0 points and 3.1 assists per game. Dajuan Harris Jr. has enjoyed a solid season with 9.6 points and 5.8 assists, which leads the team.

On the flip side, Utah enters this matchup with a 13-11 record (5-8 in Big 12).

The Utes would need many things to go right in order to earn an at-large bid to the Big Dance. Saturday is a Quad 1 chance for the Utes, as they attempt to snap their eight-year postseason drought.

Utah has played much better at home this year, with a 12-3 record compared to 1-6 on the road. The Utes have lost back-to-back games.

The last win for the Utes came on February 5 over the Colorado Buffaloes.

Senior Gabe Madsen leads the Utes with 15.3 points per game. Atlanta, Georgia, native Ezra Ausar has averaged 11.0 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. Big man Lawson Lovering has added 8.9 points and 4.7 rebounds.

The Utes are getting too many points on their home floor on Saturday.

As mentioned, the Utes have played their best basketball at home (12-3), and the Jayhawks have struggled ATS lately, with a record of 1-4.

Kansas has had road woes this year, with a 4-5 record ATS.

We'll see a close back-and-forth game that favors the 'dog here.
