Kansas State vs BYU College Basketball Betting Preview

Kansas State Basketball

There may not be a hotter team in the country than the Kansas State Wildcats. The Wildcats enter this game on a six-game winning streak, having taken down the likes of Iowa State, Kansas and Arizona.

They have been on another level offensively, as they've only posted one offensive efficiency rating under 119 during their win streak.

Their scoring outburst has been led by David N'Guessan, who's used his size to penetrate from the backcourt and finish from close range.

Getting the ball inside will be the key for the Wildcats against the Cougars. BYU has allowed its opposition to convert over 60% of their shots inside the paint.

Additionally, the Cougars only have one true rim protector — Keba Keita — but he only averages 19 minutes a game, so his impact is limited. The Wildcats are on the type of run you ride until they show us otherwise.

Given what we've seen on the defensive end from BYU, ranking 71st in adjusted defensive efficiency, there's no reason to fade Kansas State now.

BYU Basketball

While Kansas State's offensive play certainly deserves some hype, the BYU Cougars have consistently been a high-powered offensive club. The Cougars rank 13th in adjusted offensive efficiency and ninth in effective field goal rate.

However, the Cougars also rank 18th in 3-point shooting rate. They've been solid from beyond the arc, ranking 47th in 3-point shooting percentage, but this style of attack comes with a lot of variance, especially against a team that can defend the perimeter.

Kansas State has done a great job of minimizing perimeter shots against it, ranking 36th in 3-point rate allowed.

The Wildcats don't allow the team to beat them outside the paint and have done a great job of funneling shots inside where Coleman Hawkins lurks.

This end of the floor offers an intriguing contrast of styles. Whoever can assert themselves will have the edge.

Kansas State vs. BYU Betting Analysis

Kansas State's turnaround has been impressive. It's done great work on both ends of the floor.

However, the same can't be said for BYU, as its defense has cost it mightily against the upper echelon of the Big 12.

While the Wildcats are bound to cool off at some point, it likely won't come here against the Cougars.

Back Kansas State to cover the spread.
