Kentucky vs Alabama College Basketball Betting Preview

The Kentucky Wildcats pulled out a thriller last night against the Oklahoma Sooners and now have a quick turnaround against the high-flying Alabama Crimson Tide.

The last time these two teams faced off in Tuscaloosa the Tide dismantled the Cats.

The market indicates that we could be headed in a similar direction, but the best betting approach here is to attack the total.

The last time these two teams went head-to-head the Tide dropped 96 points, but it landed one-point under the closing total.

As of Friday afternoon, the market was 179.5 at most shops, and I'll happily dip my toes into the water.

Both teams go lightning-quick on offense, and there should be plenty of chances to cash in offense.

The Cats aren't as explosive without Jaxson Robinson, but we've seen over the last couple of weeks that they have enough firepower to replace him. In my eyes, they certainly are no longer National Championship contenders, but I expect them to be fine offensively in this matchup against the Tide.

Neither team forces turnovers, and the Cats' interior defense has been dreadful. Kentucky can be sloppy with the ball sometimes, but that shouldn't be an issue here, given the dynamics of both defenses.

We know that Nate Oats' team loves to shoot the triple or attack the rim, so there should be plenty of high-upside scoring opportunities. Alabama's offense is among the nation's best and hasn't reached its peak yet.

Meanwhile, the Cats were the No. 1 team in the SEC in 3-point shooting, so I don't expect them to be ice-cold from deep, especially in what should be a rapid-paced contest.

We'll also benefit from a lot of fouling late if it's a close contest. The Tide do an incredible job of entering the bonus in the early stages of a half due to their aggressive offensive style.

I like the Tide to take advantage of some tired legs from the Cats, but I’d focus more on the total instead of the spread. Both offenses should keep up with one another, and I think the additional fouling that should come at the end of the game will be a nice buffer.

The total has taken some sharp money after dipping to 179.5, so I’m going to snag it now before it potentially rises any further.
