Marshall vs Old Dominion College Basketball Betting Preview

This Sun Belt battle between Marshall and Old Dominion features two teams on losing streaks of two and three games, respectively.

But I'm taking Marshall to cover the spread on the road.

First, Old Dominion has relied heavily — maybe too heavily — on Sean Durugordon, especially since third-leading scorer Devin Ceaser has played in only 12 games this season.

Meanwhile, Marshall is much more well-balanced, as it features four players who average double figures in scoring and another player right on the cusp (Nate Martin, 9.8 PPG).

Also, Marshall doesn't have a great defense, but it's biggest weakness is it's ability to foul opposing teams. That won't make a huge difference against ODU since it shoots just 71% from the line and has a free throw attempt rate that ranks just 181st in the nation.

Finally, we're getting some value on this spread. Our Action PRO Model has Marshall favored by four points and Haslametrics has it favored around the same margin.
