Miami vs UNC College Basketball Betting Preview

I desperately want to back the Canes.

A middling North Carolina team has to be due for a letdown after four consecutive wins, while the Hurricanes could be due for a bounce-back performance after playing the dominant Duke Blue Devils on Tuesday.

Miami plays mainly pace-and-post basketball. I still don’t trust North Carolina’s frontcourt to battle down low, and the Heels have struggled defending in transition (1.15 PPP allowed, fifth percentile, per Synergy).

On the other end of the court, Miami’s transition defense has trended up during conference play, and it’s imperative to keep the Tar Heels from running the open court.

That said, I can’t trust Miami without knowing the status of leading scorer Matthew Cleveland. He’s missed the past two games with an injury, and it’s uncertain when he’ll return.

The Hurricanes will need his interior scoring presence if they want to hang in this game.
