My Michigan vs Nebraska College Basketball Betting Preview
Much has been made about Nebraska at Pinnacle Bank Arena, but the Cornhuskers have lost three of their last five home games, including matchups against USC and Rutgers.
Meanwhile, Michigan ranks just 253rd in Haslametrics' away-from-home metric; however, the Wolverines have won six Big Ten road games, which is a remarkable achievement in a league that is known to have a home-court edge.
What's even more impressive is two of those wins came when the Wolverines traveled across the country and swept both USC and UCLA.
Nebraska is currently on the bubble, as it sits in the "Last Four Byes" category on ESPN's Bracketology. However, backing bubble teams blindly in late February and early March can be a recipe to betting disaster.
It's not like Michigan doesn't have motivation to win this game, too. It just lost to Michigan State this past Friday, so it trails the Spartans by a half-game at the top of the Big Ten standings. This is both a bounce-back spot and a huge matchup for the Big Ten regular season title.
Finally, Michigan's biggest issue this season is turnovers. Nebraska is 104th in the country in opponent turnovers per game (12.7), so this isn't a huge edge for the Cornhuskers.
That's especially the case when the Wolverines have a big advantage on the interior with Danny Wolf and Vlad Goldin.
Nebraska's Berke Buyuktuncel has missed three straight games due to an ankle injury, and while he's hopeful to return on Monday after practicing over the weekend, it's not guaranteed that he'll be a full-go at 100%.
I trust the better team, even on the road.
