We enter the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament with a lot to play for (and bet on), but one trend continues: Duke remains the team to beat.
As Jon Scheyer continues his third season as Duke's head coach, he's looking to improve on last season's performance and make it to the Final Four — and bring Duke its sixth NCAA Championship.
Let's dig into this market at Kalshi, which operates more like a stock market than a traditional sportsbook.
NCAA Tournament Odds
The Duke Blue Devils are a force to be reckoned with in the NCAA Tournament. The No. 1 seed in the East regional, Scheyer's team is fresh off putting up 89 points against Baylor after an absolute demolition of 16-seed Mount St. Mary's, so it's no surprise they're the favorites.
Led by projected No. 1 overall pick Cooper Flagg, Duke entered the market as a double-digit favorite for their upcoming clash against Arizona.
Florida is Duke's closest competitor.
After a close win over UConn, Florida is priced at 19%. The Gators now take on Maryland, but history is with them. Florida has only been a No. 1 seed twice, in 2007 and 2014, but made the Final Four both times.
What is Kalshi?
Different than a traditional sportsbook and available in all 50 states, Kalshi allows users to make predictions across several unique markets, including sports, entertainment, elections and even weather.
Kalshi operates on a contract-based system where users buy "contracts" (priced between 1–99 cents) based on whether they believe a specific event will happen. The price of each contract fluctuates in real time based on market sentiment, and like the stock market, traders can sell positions early to lock in profits (or minimize losses).
