It's the biggest rivalry in college basketball and arguably the biggest rivalry in sports. It's the Duke Blue Devils vs. the North Carolina Tar Heels.
The stakes are even higher this season, as it ' the last time Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski will coach in this rivalry barring a matchup in the ACC Tournament. It will also be the last home game Coach K will be on the bench at Cameron Indoor.
Duke has opened as a 12.5-point favorite, according to PointsBet.
Krzyzewski has had a historical career with hundreds of big games and memories, but you wouldn't be able to tell the story of Coach K without the North Carolina rivalry.
Krzyzewski is 50-46 straight up in his career vs. North Carolina. He's also 22-18 SU at home and 18-23 SU on the road. His ATS record against UNC is not as good.
Since 2005, North Carolina has had the advantage against the spread in this matchup. The Heels are 21-16-2 against the Blue Devils in that span.
UNC has also dominated it as of late, covering in seven of the last nine clashes between the two schools.
Duke is worse at home ATS in this rivalry than on the road with a 6-11 record. When at the Dean Dome, that record jumps up to 8-8. That includes the season matchup between these two teams earlier in the season when Duke beat UNC, 87-67.
Both teams are expected to make the NCAA Tournament. Barring any terrible losses, Duke will likely be a No. 1 seed in the tournament with a 26-4 overall record.
North Carolina has been closer to the bubble for much of the season. But it appears it's in, as long as the Heels don't suffer a drastic loss. FanDuel currently has them at -1100 to make the tournament, giving them a 91.67% implied probability.
