Oregon vs Penn State College Basketball Betting Preview
The situational spot screams Penn State.
The Nittany Lions are due for a big bounce-back win coming home after brutal back-to-back losses against Indiana and Illinois.
Meanwhile, the Ducks are due for a loss after back-to-back wins, especially in their second straight home game.
Big Ten home-court advantage is the strongest in the sport. I’ll happily take any Big Ten home ‘dog in this spot, especially when it’s Penn State hosting one of the league’s new West Coast squads.
Dana Altman runs a complex amoeba zone defense that’s tough to crack. But Penn State’s zone offense has been elite this season (1.16 PPP, 88th percentile), and the Nittany Lions' ball-screen-centric offense could give the Ducks fits after they allowed 109 points to Illinois’ similar scheme last week.
Oregon primarily plays through the post on the other end, which is a little worrisome for Penn State, considering its extended, perimeter-oriented, pressure-based defense.
Still, the situational spot is too strong. I’ll take the points with Penn State.
