More About Texas Tech
Doug Ziefel: Mark Adams’ crew is not to be taken lightly. The Red Raiders entered the postseason sporting not only the No. 1 defense in the Big 12 (in terms of KenPom's adjusted defensive efficiency), but in the country.
They finished third in the Big 12 regular-season standings, but took down every conference foe at least once along the way. Their resume is impressive, with two wins against Baylor, a split series against Kansas and a win against Tennessee. They also hung around against Providence and Gonzaga.
The Red Raiders’ suffocating defense — combined with their half-court style of offense — allows them to dictate nearly every matchup and gives them an opportunity to beat anyone.
More About Notre Dame
Kody Malstrom: While Duke was the obvious best team in the ACC, Notre Dame was right on its heels. The Irish were a pleasant surprise this season, as they led the ACC or were within one game until the very end of the regular season (15-5 in conference play).
Are they a sneaky top-tier team? Maybe.
While certainly not on Duke’s level, this is still a balanced squad that is capable of shooting its way into a win. Notre Dame is a dangerous shooting unit that looks for the most efficient look and relies on maximizing limited possessions at a slow tempo.
