Marquette announced guard Tyler Kolek will remain out for Thursday's Big East Tournament opening game.
Kolek — who has been dealing with an oblique injury — will be questionable for the rest of the conference tournament but it appears the team expects him to be available for the NCAA Tournament.

Marquette is the No. 3 seed in the Big East Tournament. Before the announcement that Kolek could be back during the conference tournament, Marquette was +650 to win the Big East.

Kolek is one of Marquette's best players, but he has not played since Feb. 28. He was averaging 15 points (second on the team), 7.6 assists (led the team), 1.6 steals (led the team) and 4.7 rebounds (second on the team) before his injury.
The senior is one of the best playmakers in all of college basketball with an assist rate of 41.1% (fourth in the country), according to KenPom.
Marquette is considered an outside contender to win the national championship. The Golden Eagles are currently +2500 to win the title. They are +500 to make the Final Four.
Joe Lunardi currently has Marquette as a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
