UConn vs Creighton College Basketball Betting Preview

The Jays have surged to the top of the Big East standings, only trailing St. John’s. Greg McDermott’s squad has had an impressive season, especially since they lost star transfer Pop Isaacs earlier in the year.

Meanwhile, the Huskies are underdogs after coming off a tough loss on Friday to St. John’s. The Huskies have lost four of their last eight contests and will try to find their footing heading into the conference tournament.

This is a fascinating matchup, especially since the Jays took care of business against the Huskies in their previous matchup. I faded the Jays on Saturday and have even more reason to fade them on Tuesday.

It hasn’t been the best stretch to bet against this Creighton team, but regression looms on the offensive side of the ball. The Huskies have been inconsistent on defense, but many will argue they’ve picked up the slack over the last month.

The Jays turn the basketball over far too often for my liking, and they're due for serious regression from the 3-point line. The Jays are shooting over 35% from downtown, and the Huskies are due for favorable fortune defensively in that same category.

The Huskies do a terrific job of limiting their opponents from deep, which leads me to believe we'll see a sloppy shooting display from the Bluejays.

Another massive question mark for the Jays is their ability to rebound the basketball. The Huskies are outstanding at grabbing defensive boards and do a nice job on the offensive glass.

This is an area where they could expose the Jays in what should be a closely contested matchup.

It's also important to note that the Jays made 14-of-15 free throws in their first 68-63 victory against the Huskies, whereas UConn only had five attempts from the stripe. It’s a reasonable assumption to make that the Jays benefited from a friendly whistle.

I may have underestimated the Jays heading into conference play, but it’s not rocket science to assume they’ve been getting lucky. According to ShotQuality, they should have three more losses than they currently have.

With Liam McNeeley fully back for the Huskies, we should them begin to mold as a unit. The number is ridiculous, and I don’t care that KenPom projects this as Creighton -5.

With McNeeley back, expect him to be a big different maker on both sides of the floor and help keep it a close game in Omaha.

I’m happily grabbing the points with Dan Hurley’s team in a good situational spot coming off a tough loss to the Johnnies.
