Utah State vs Colorado State College Basketball Betting Preview

I like Utah State here.

This game is crucial for the Aggies because a win could secure their at-large bid, easing some pressure in the Mountain West Tournament.

Colorado State hasn’t done well against more formidable opponents. The Rams got swept by New Mexico, lost by eight to Utah State — despite a stellar performance from Nique Clifford — and had big defeats to VCU and Ole Miss.

On the other hand, Utah State is coming off a loss, and I think this is an excellent chance for a bounce back.

The Rams struggled with free throws against Boise, and Boise was hot from 3. Nick Martinez also had an off game, but I think he’ll rebound here.

Colorado State struggles to force turnovers and grab offensive rebounds, relying heavily on making jump shots.

Meanwhile, Utah State can turn the ball over, as shown by its plus-five turnover margin in the last head-to-head matchup.

Remember, the Aggies won that first game by eight points despite missing 13 free throws. They're not the best at free throws nationally, but missing 13 is extreme.

So, I think Utah State has a good chance of winning by more than two possessions rather than losing outright.

Nationally, Utah State doesn’t get much attention, especially after losses to New Mexico, which took some shine off its first season with a new coaching staff.

But I’m still high on this team. I believe the Aggies are better than the Rams.

Usually in these matchups, Clifford can try to take over and play hero ball, going for 25 points and 10 rebounds. He already did that last time and it didn’t work.

Round two? I think it’s another win for the Aggies.
