Vanderbilt vs Florida College Basketball Betting Preview
I get this spread. Florida is coming off a 20-point loss to Tennessee on the road and returns home angry for a bounce back. Meanwhile, Vanderbilt just got smoked by Oklahoma by 30 points on the road and is 1-3 away from home since Jan. 1.
The Commodores are also 283rd in Haslametrics' away-from-home metric, and Florida has a huge edge on the glass (third in the country in rebounding compared to 227th for the 'Dores).
However, this is a massive lookahead spot for the Gators — they have No. 1 Auburn on Saturday in Alabama.
Not only that, but Walter Clayton Jr. injured his ankle against Tennessee.
While head coach Todd Golden said the injury isn't anything serious, the Gators are still likely to be cautious with him in this particular matchup. As of writing, Clayton is questionable vs. Vanderbilt, according to the Gainesville Sun.
Also, Vanderbilt's guard play isn't a group you want to underestimate. No, they don't get the publicity of Clayton, Will Richard and Alijah Martin, but Jason Edwards, AJ Hoggard and Tyler Nickel have experience and all are averaging double figures.
Florida should still win this game regardless of whether Clayton plays or not — he's not going to be 100% either way — but Vanderbilt should be able to stick around and cover the spread.
