My Vanderbilt vs Tennessee NCAAB Betting Preview

Vanderbilt has a tall task on the road against No. 5 Tennessee. In fact, the Volunteers own a dominant 13-1 mark at home.

However, the Commodores already have belief since they edged the Volunteers, 76-75, in Nashville on Jan. 18. It marked just the second victory for Vanderbilt over Tennessee in the last 14 meetings.

Both teams are coming off losses on Feb. 11. Auburn defeated Vanderbilt, 80-68, while Tennessee lost at Kentucky, 75-64. Each of the Volunteers' losses in the last five games has come against the Wildcats.

Tennessee is 5-1 at home in SEC play. Meanwhile, Vanderbilt is 1-4 on the road in the conference.

Once again this season, Tennessee is exceptional defensively but has been prone to offensive droughts. The Volunteers rank first in field goal percentage (36.7%), third in 3-point percentage (27.5%) and fourth nationally in points allowed (59.9).

Zakai Zeigler (2.1 steals per game) and Felix Okpara (1.8 blocks) have been the anchors for Tennessee's tenacious defense.

This time, Tennessee will bottle up Jason Edwards, who led Vanderbilt with 18 points on 6-for-8 shooting in the last matchup.

The Volunteers also have to pay attention to Tyler Nickel along the 3-point line. Nickel has made at least three 3-pointers in 10 games this season.

The lone offensive category where the Volunteers are strong is rebounding. Yet, Vanderbilt contained Tennessee on the offensive boards in the first meeting this season.

Zeigler was limited with foul trouble in the last game vs. Vanderbilt. Expect him to play a much cleaner game this time and distribute plenty of quality looks for his teammates.

Expect another strong showing from the 6-foot-11 Okpara, as Vanderbilt doesn't have an answer for him on its roster. Okpara had 16 points on 7-for-7 shooting with four blocks in the previous contest.

Vanderbilt will put up a fight, but Tennessee will cover the spread and pick up the victory for some sweet payback against its in-state rival.
