Wake Forest vs Texas A&M College Basketball Betting Preview
In my opinion, Wake Forest has been one of the most disappointing teams in the nation thus far. The Demon Deacons were expected to be a top contender for the "third-best team in the ACC" behind Duke and UNC.
Instead, Steve Forbes' club was obliterated in its two biggest games of the season, losing to Xavier and Florida by a combined 32 points.
Even with a victory over Michigan, the offense is concerning, to say the least. Weapons like Hunter Sallis, Cameron Hildreth and Alabama transfer Davin Cosby would make you think this Deacs offense would be explosive and dangerous. But instead, there is way too much one-on-one and hero ball going on right now.
I truly believe it's only a matter of time until the Deacs start to break through, though. There are too many good pieces and talented players on this squad for it to continue to play this poorly.
A&M has a huge advantage on the glass in this game (eighth in rebounding while Wake Forest is 268th), and Wade Taylor IV and Zhuric Phelps can both take over a game with their scoring.
Also, one of A&M's two losses this season came without Phelps in a true road game against UCF.
Regardless, Taylor and Phelps are also both capable of taking bad shots, which in turn impacts the Aggies' offensive flow. Also, Wake Forest has proven it can win a grind-it-out game — as it did against Minnesota — thanks to its 59th-ranked defense, per KenPom.
In a matchup between two teams that can struggle offensively, you normally would want to take the better defensive team (which is undoubtedly A&M). However, in this instance, Wake getting almost double-digit points seems like a gift — even on the road.
