Let's take a look at the Wisconsin Badgers vs. Michigan Wolverines odds and make a prediction in our college basketball betting preview for Wednesday, Feb. 7.

Big Ten play continues on Wednesday when two teams that lost twice last week face off in Ann Arbor, Mich., as the Wisconsin Badgers take on the Michigan Wolverines.

Wisconsin still has dreams of cutting down the nets as Big Ten champions at the end of the season, while Michigan is just hoping that the end of the season gets here fast.

The Badgers suffered two heartbreaking losses last week, falling in overtime at Nebraska before losing to Purdue in Madison. If just one of those results goes in Wisconsin's favor, it would be in first place in the Big Ten standings.

Instead, it finds itself a game back of Purdue in the loss column. The Badgers will need to take care of business to give themselves a shot at playing the Boilermakers with the Big Ten regular-season title on the line in the final game.

On the other side, the Wolverines are in free fall.

After a promising start to the season, Michigan now holds a 7-15 record. It's suffered both on and off the court, as point guard Dug McDaniel was suspended for academic reasons and strength coach Jon Sanderson left the program following an incident at practice.

McDaniel will be active in this game at home, and with him, the Wolverines offense is good enough to beat anyone on any given night. But Wisconsin will be a tough test.

Wisconsin Badgers

Wisconsin is one of the most balanced teams in the Big Ten. It boasts the eighth-ranked offense and the 33rd-ranked defense in college hoops this season.

The Badgers' trademark slow-tempo offense remains, but they've added some athleticism and some pop to their roster.

The biggest addition has been AJ Storr, who looks the part of a first-team All-Big Ten player. A three-level scorer, Storr has two games with 28 points in the last two weeks. When his shots are falling from outside, he's essentially unguardable.

Wisconsin should enter this game focused with a chip on its shoulder. Both losses last week came at the end of highly competitive games. The Badgers didn't play poorly, but their opponents were up to the challenge.

However, Michigan has been overwhelmed by superior teams as of late, and Wisconsin certainly qualifies as a superior team.

Michigan Wolverines

Despite leading in nine of their 11 Big Ten games, the Wolverines own a conference record of just 2-9. That speaks to a multitude of issues, from coaching and talent to depth and conditioning.

Michigan doesn't have many answers against good teams.

Its lone win in 2024 thus far came at home against Ohio State, and it was largely due to a hot shooting performance in which the Wolverines shot 12-of-23 from deep. As a team, they've made 37% of their 3s on the season.

Wisconsin sits just 301st in opponent 3-point percentage, so if Michigan can get hot from outside, it'll have a chance to keep this close.

With McDaniel active, there's hope — but it may just be hope.

Betting Prediction, Pick

If Michigan can keep this close, it will likely just be for the first 20 minutes again.

The Wolverines always fall apart late, and the Badgers need a statement win to get back on track. Take Wisconsin to win big as it looks to keep pace with Purdue.

Pick: Wisconsin -5.5
