Wisconsin vs UCF College Basketball Betting Preview
Two undefeated teams face off here in the Greenbrier Tip-Off, as both the Badgers and Knights have been pleasant surprises through the first three weeks of the season.
This should be a well-played basketball game, as both teams are balanced and rank within the top 100 nationally in both Adjusted Offensive and Defensive Efficiency.
Wisconsin put the college basketball world on notice last week, hanging 103 points on Arizona at the Kohl Center in a game that featured a combined 87 free-throw attempts.
The Badgers are built to win games that are decided at the stripe, as they shoot 88.6% as a team from the free-throw line, which ranks second nationally.
Transfer wing John Tonje is doing his best Johnny Davis impersonation, and he looks fully up for the task of being the Badgers' first option. Tonje has topped 13 points in all four contests thus far, and poured in 41 points in the win over Arizona.
UCF will have its hands full with Tonje, especially since the Knights' best player, on paper, has yet to make his debut this season. Jaylin Sellers' mysterious injury still has "no timetable," and the Knights have had to learn how to play without him.
To their credit, they have found their way to a 4-0 record, including a big comeback win over Texas A&M on opening night.
Since that win, UCF has just been okay, beating Tennessee Tech (KenPom No. 330) by just 11 points in its last outing.
3-point shooting could be the difference here, as the Badgers are the better shooting team. Wisconsin makes 39% of its shots from deep (and shoots 45% of its attempts from outside), while UCF shoots just 33% from outside (on 41% of its attempts).
That shot profile greatly favors the Badgers — as does the injury report.
Take Wisconsin to cover.
