We’ve got an AFC North showdown to kick off a mini two-game NFL Saturday slate. With the Bengals and Steelers squaring off, I’m keying in on one particular position group for my Bengals vs Steelers same game parlay.
Here's my Bengals vs. Steelers parlay for NFL Week 16.
Pat Freiermuth 3+ Receptions
Starting on the Steelers side, I’m liking Freiermuth to haul in at least three passes. The tight end has reached this mark in six of his last seven games, and he gets an elite matchup as he looks to continue on the trend.
The Bengals have allowed the second-most targets and most receptions to tight ends this season, as well as the second-highest target rate. Freiermuth had a massive game in their first matchup, with nine catches on 11 targets.
Mason Rudolph will be under center for the Steelers in this one, and I do think that benefits Freiermuth. With limited first-team reps, I expect Rudolph to utilize Freiermuth as a safety blanket, rather than forcing downfield shots to the likes of Diontae Johnson and George Pickens.
It’s a smash spot for Freiermuth. I see three catches as a safe floor for the Penn State product.
Tanner Hudson 3+ Receptions
Hudson has quietly come on strong for the Bengals. He’s caught at least three passes in six of his last seven games, despite playing in a four-way timeshare.
While I don’t love betting overs on part-time players, Hudson has proven all season he does not need to see the field much to produce. Per Pro Football Focus, Hudson has caught 33 passes this season while running only 151 routes, easily pacing the Bengals in snap-per-reception production.
And this should be a spot where we see the Bengals utilize him more as Cincinnati will be without All-Pro receiver Ja’Marr Chase. In an effort to give quarterback Jake Browning options he’s comfortable with, I foresee a bump in snaps for Hudson, who is third in targets from the back-up signal caller.
The Steelers defense is decimated up the middle — they’ll be without both starting safeties. I expect Hudson and the Bengals to capitalize on that.
