The New York Giants Week 17 matchup against the Colts is quite crucial for Big Blue. With a win, the Giants would clinch one of the NFC’s wild-card spots for the playoffs.
Knowing that the Giants will keep their foot on the gas all game, I’m keying in on their rookie tight end’s receiving yards line today.
Daniel Bellinger has emerged this season as the Giants' top tight end. While his overall stats won’t blow anyone away (27 catches for 226 yards), he’s cleared this line in six of the last seven full games he’s played.
And fully healed from eye and rib injuries he’s suffered throughout the season, Bellinger has been on the field for all but three offensive snaps in the last two games combined.
The Colts rank 27th in Football Outsider’s DVOA metric against tight ends. Indianapolis' focal point coming into this matchup will be to contain Saquon Barkley, which should open up some play-action opportunities for Bellinger and quarterback Daniel Jones.
Overall, it’s a low line for the first-year pass catcher, one he’s regularly cleared this season. I have Bellinger projected at closer to 30 yards today.
