New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Buffalo Bills, head coach Brian Daboll announced on Friday.
Jones injured his neck during the Week 5 loss to the Dolphins and had been questionable throughout the week.
Jones had thrown for 884 yards, two touchdowns and six interceptions through five games this season. This will be the first game Jones has missed this season.
The Giants will turn to veteran Tyrod Taylor to start at quarterback against the Bills on Sunday Night Football.
Taylor is in his 13th season in the NFL. He has played sparingly so far this season. He replaced Jones against the Dolphins and went 9-for-12 for 86 yards with no touchdowns and no picks.
The Giants are now 15.5-point underdogs against the Bills this weekend. The line has moved 1.5 points since Thursday morning. It seemed clear to sharp bettors they did not expect Jones to be playing in this game.
This will be the fourth primetime game for the Giants so far this season, the most of any team in the NFL so far. The Giants have yet to win or cover the spread in a single one of those.
Expert Giants vs Bills Analysis
Chris Raybon: Before the season, Jones would have been worth 1.5 to 2.0 points over Taylor, but given how he's played, he's only worth about a half of a point to the spread. Additionally, there is a limited impact on the total.
