Coming into their matchup with the Saints on Monday Night Football, the Ravens' skill position players are banged up, to put it lightly. Taking a next-man-up approach, I’m honing in on wide receiver Devin Durvernay’s receptions prop.
In his third season, Duvernay has been used in a variety of roles, including returner and rusher. But now, without Mark Andrews, Rashod Bateman and potentially Demarcus Robinson, the Texas product will have to step into a featured receiving role.
Duvernay has caught at least four passes in four of his eight games this season. Amongst Ravens expected to be active tonight, the speedy wideout leads the team in targets, catches, yards and routes run.
The Saints' best cover cornerback, Marshon Lattimore, is out for tonight’s matchup with an injury. Plus, New Orleans ranks first in Football Outsider’s DVOA metric at defending the tight ends, which should lead to tough sledding for Ravens rookie Isaiah Likely.
Veteran DeSean Jackson is expected to make his debut for Baltimore tonight. The threat of his speed over the top should open up more room for Duvernay on underneath routes.
I like the Ravens to get the ball to their best playmakers tonight, Duvernay being at the top of that list. I have him projected for five catches.
