For my favorite prop of this star-studded Sunday Night Football showdown, I’m going with Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts to clear his rush attempts prop.
Hurts has reached double-digit attempts in three of his six games, with at least nine attempts in five of his last six games. Per Pro Football Focus, Hurts has kept the ball 44 times this season via a designed run or run-pass option (yes, this includes attempts via the controversial tush-push).
While I expect Hurts to see another 7-10 called running plays, I also see upside for Hurts’ scrambles tonight. The Dolphins have recorded pressure on opposing quarterbacks at a top-five rate this season. Hurts’ scramble rate jumps from 5% when kept clean to 11% when he’s under pressure this season, per Pro Football Focus.
Plus, by virtue of their quick strike offense, the Dolphins are allowing their opponents to run 66 plays per game (eighth most in the NFL). More plays, of course, means more opportunity for Hurts to run.
And maybe, just maybe, there is some added motivation for Hurts against Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who he was benched in favor of in the 2017 NCAA National Championship game.
I have Hurts projected with 11 totes tonight and would play this line up to -140.
