Philadelphia Eagles star tackle Lane Johnson was surprisingly announced as questionable Sunday morning after waking up with “groin soreness” according to media reports. There was hope he’d react well to treatment, but that did not go according to plan, as he is officially inactive against the Bills for Sunday's Week 12 game.
The markets reacted accordingly throughout the day. Buffalo was a three-point underdog (+3) and was +145 on the money line before Johnson’s injury. Those lines moved to +2.5 and +125 ML approaching kickoff, with some lingering Bills +3s still out there but unlikely to stick around for long.
Overall, Johnson's injury status moved the line inside the key number of Eagles -3 across most of the market.
It’s hard to overstate Johnson’s value to the Eagle’s offense. He has the ninth-highest grade (80.2) among all NFL tackles according to Pro Football Focus. He’s allowed only two quarterback sacks all year. Philadelphia is 94-52-1 SU with him over the years and 13-23 without him.
