Jaylen Waddle Player Prop: Saturday Night Bet for Dolphins-Chiefs
On the surface, this one is scary – and I understand that. Waddle is fast, and is averaging 14.1 yards per reception (and 18.1 in 2022).
But there are so many variables in play for this one, all of which skew in favor of the under.
Firstly, Waddle’s ankle is clearly not 100%. While he’s likely to suit up (as of publishing), he clearly won’t be fully healthy. Reports coming out of practice this week were that Waddle did not go full speed.
And then, of course, is the weather. Frigid temperatures, coupled with wind gusts potentially reaching 100% does not bode well for a hobbled speedster.
Quarterback, and noted warm-weather aficionado, Tua Tagovailoa struggles in colder temperatures as is, with 6.8 yards per pass attempt in games with a temperature at 45 degrees or below.
As is, Waddle is under this line in seven of 14 games this season. And the matchup is tough, with the Chiefs ranking fourth in FTN Fantasy’s DVOA metric against deep passes this season.
Likely in a limited role, I have Waddle projected with a long reception of 14 yards today.
