To conclude Week 12, we have the Colts and Steelers facing off on Monday Night Football. In this matchup, I’m focusing on Kenny Pickett and his pass attempts prop.
The Steelers’ rookie quarterback has started and finished five games thus far and has eclipsed this total four times. Since Pickett took over as the starter in Week 5, Pittsburgh has run pass plays on 60% of its snaps in neutral game scripts (per RotoViz) — that’s the seventh highest mark in the league.
The running game for the Steelers has been subpar, with Najee Harris mustering just 3.7 yards per attempt. He should have a tough time getting going tonight against a Colts rush defense that ranks sixth in Football Outsiders’ DVOA metric.
Plus, the Steelers will be without promising rookie running back Jaylen Warren, who's been a bright spot averaging five yards per tote.
Pickett should find himself throwing the ball more often than not. And against the Colts' deep zone coverage, I’m not expecting many chunk-yardage plays for the Steelers passing game. Indianapolis has allowed an average depth of target of 6.9 yards, which is the eighth lowest mark in the league.
With these two teams evenly matched, I’m expecting both offenses to continue passing into the fourth quarter. I have Pickett projected for 35 attempts.
