I have spent as much time looking at weather reports this week as I have researching props. OK, slight exaggeration, but you get the gist: Several NFL games will be impacted by frigid temperatures and high winds this weekend.
One of those games is in Baltimore, where the Ravens take on the Falcons. The expectation coming into this game is high winds with gusts reaching up to 30 mph. That’s going to make it tough on a team already trotting out its backup quarterback.
Tyler Huntley will likely take the snaps again for the Ravens in Week 16. Filling in for Lamar Jackson, Huntley has stayed under this total in both of his starts.
The Utah product is of the dual-threat mold that is needed to run this offense. While he is a capable passer, the Ravens will lean on their ground game considerably.
JK Dobbins and Gus Edwards are both healthy, and they should capitalize against a Falcons rush defense that ranks 26th in Football Outsiders’ DVOA metric.
And when Huntley does throw, it likely won’t be efficiently. His 5.5 yards per pass attempt ranks 48th out of 52 quarterbacks (min. 100 dropbacks). Last season he was at 5.8 YPA.
Couple all of this with a balky shoulder that’s limited his practice reps, and we have a recipe for an under today. I have Huntley projected at 135 passing yards, and I would play this line down to 153.5.
Pick: Tyler Huntley under 161.5 passing yards | Play to 153.5 |
