Philadelphia Flyers vs. Tampa Bay Lightning NHL Preview

By Bruce Marshall

Here's a quick return match for the Lightning after getting stunned 4-3 last Thursday by Philly at Wells Fargo Center.

That result is a real outlier over the past couple of weeks for the Flyers, who had lost five straight prior and responded to the Tampa Bay victory by promptly getting blanked by the Canes at home on Saturday.

The offense again went on the blink as it mostly has in the recent slump, as just eight goals have been scored in those last six losses. Ivan Fedotov is also likely in goal tonight after losing his last three starts.

Remember that Jon Cooper gave Andrei Vasilevskiy a rest in goal last Thursday in Philly, giving Jonas Johansson a rare start instead. Tampa Bay is 10-3 in Vasilevsky's last 13 starts.

Best Bet: Lightning -1.5

By Bill Marzano

This is a huge game for the Tampa Bay Lightning, who are 12-3-2 since Jan. 30 and chasing down the top seed in the playoffs.

The Lightning have plenty of work to do and it starts with taking care of business at home where they have thrived with a 23-8-2 record.

However, the Lightning have dropped both meetings vs the Flyers this year, including a 4-3 SO defeat just three nights ago in Philly.

Philly is just 12-13-7 on the road and has dropped six of its last seven games overall.

The Lightning rank second in the NHL in scoring offense, averaging 3.53 goals per contest, and sport a top-seven scoring defense.

The Flyers are in the bottom five in the league defensively and this figures to be a very physical hockey game with no love loss between teams and former coach.

Best Bet: Lightning -1.5
