The Jets are coming off a huge 3-0 victory against the Hurricanes where Eric Comrie pitched a shutout. Now, the Islanders come into town to face a well-rested Connor Hellebuyck after he gave up four goals in his last start vs Washington.
After allowing four goals or more this season, Hellebuyck is 4-1-0, with a .917 SV%, and 2.01 GAA.
The Islanders have won three out of their last four, but against very average goaltending in three of those matchups:
- 2-1 W v VGK – Samsonov
- 6-3 L v FLA – Knight
- 3-2 OTW v TBL – Vasy
- 3-0 W v PHI – Fedotov
The Islanders are 14th in offense created at 5-on-5 over that span, so they’re not doing anything terrific offensively. This will be a huge step up in goaltending competition for the Isles against the Vezina Trophy favorite.
Ilya Sorokin has been a huge reason why the Isles are 8-1 in their last nine games. He has +12 goals saved above expected over that span, which comes out to +1.71 goals saved above expected per game.
His season-long goals saved above expected per game is +0.26. So he is playing way above expectation currently, which is great for Isles fans. But it's a tough situation to come in and play that well against a top-3 offense in the NHL.
The Jets are fifth in the NHL since Jan 24th in goals per game at 5-on-5, along with a power play that's hitting at a 33% rate. This will be a much tougher test for the Islanders, especially on the road. Take the Jets to win in regulation.
Pick: Jets 60-Minute ML (-120)

The Chicago Blackhawks currently have the second fewest points in the NHL, but I think the books are overvaluing the Predators tonight, as the moneyline price reflects that of a playoff team, not one only five points clear of its opponent, as is the case.
The Predators have lost five straight and, more importantly for the purposes of this handicap, may be the worst team in the league on the road.
Nashville is 12-10-3 on the season at home, but a putrid 6-21 on the road. The Blackhawks aren't great by any stretch, but 10 of their 16 wins have come in Chicago.
The Blackhawks have also covered this goal line in seven of their last 10 home games. Additionally, six of those last seven games went over a total of 6.5, while all seven went over 5.5. For Nashville, four of the last five road games went over 6.5.
Pick: Parlay — Blackhawks Goal Line +1.5 | Alt Total Over 4.5 (+103)

The Los Angeles Kings have been the best home team in the NHL this season with a record of 16-4 SU. Los Angeles enters this contest winners of back-to-back games.
The Dallas Stars have been one of the best teams in the NHL this year but they have been average on the road with a 14-11 record compared to 20-7-1 at home.
We will trust the line and the home team tonight to win their third consecutive game.
